The popularity of Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland has created something you definitely don’t see everyday: A makeup kit dedicated to Alice in Wonderland.
Called “Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows,” Urban Decay created a limited edition kit of eye shadows with Alice-themed names like “White Rabbit,” and so on.
You can check it out for yourself on the Urban Decay website.

This certainly is one of the weirdest (and coolest) weird reader gifts we’ve featured to date.
You take two naturally opposing forces (the Librarian and the action figure), and mix them together to create the hybrid pictured above. The results are quite… uh, awesome?
All in all, we love this action figure—we think it would make a great gift for any Librarian with a good sense of humor.
Truth be told, our main complaint about this action figure and its accessories is that there aren’t any C.S. Lewis books on that library cart. (Not that we can see, anyways.)
You can get this gem of an action figure (made by Accoutrements) over at Amazon.
If you liked this action figure, you might also like these famous author action figures as well.

Be honest; which of us hasn’t thought of having a book with a secret compartment to hide our most valuable possessions?
Well, now it’s possible with this handy book bank (also called a book safe) that we found earlier this week.
Don’t like Das Kapital? No problem. It seems like they have some other book safes available for your secret treasures.
When we were walking through our local Best Buy, we were surprised to find (after passing the ocean of DVD’s and other techno-gadgets we think are neat but have no need for) this mountain of books:

It’s as if they were waiting for us—a lone book lover wandering through an electronics store.
Okay, so it’s a shelf, not a mountain, and the books weren’t waiting for us specifically (or were they?) but still, it was completely unexpected and very cool to have books come at us out of nowhere. And it looks like there’s some good ones! We spotted Evermore, Harry Potter, and The Lightening Thief just to name a few.
What about you? What’s the coolest (or most unexpected place) that you’ve spotted books lately? Read the full story

With their ability to read at the speed of light and stealthily hide behind bookshelves, who wouldn’t want to be a Book Ninja?
We’ve got this shirt for men and women, so be sure to adorn you or your favorite book nerd with a Book Ninja t-shirt.

Readers, writers, and poets alike can rejoice at the weird—yet oddly fulfilling—site of these author action figures.
While it’s tempting to believe, the image above is not an illusion. All of these authors are available in the flesh (in a manner of speaking) on Amazon:
We saw them and just had to share them with the rest of you. Wouldn’t these just make the perfect gift for the hard-to-shop-for reader/writer/poet in your life?
If you’re looking for some unique gifts for the readers, writers, and poets in your life that aren’t quite so weird, we’ve got some great gifts that you—and they—are sure to love.

Buy Books—Not Shoes! That’s what we say anyways, so we took a vintage shoe poster and made it bookish.
While this shirt will make the perfect gift for any book loving gal on your list, it’s also a great commentary on how far we’ve come in the past 100 years.
If we had the choice, we’d take books over shoes any day. How about you?
(Don’t forget—you can still save 10% on this shirt or any of our other book shirts by using the coupon code 10OFFTSHIRTS at checkout.)

The good folks at Baron Bob offer a reading light called the Little Lamp that skips the niceties of normal reading lights by doing without a lamp altogether.
Yes, this lamp goes au natural to provide the bare necessities for reading light on a dark, stormy night. (Or any other night, for that matter.)
While we don’t think anything can top the Shakespeare tissue box, this little reading lamp is pretty weird.
But, if you (or a friend) would a Little Lamp of your very own, you can get it here.
While we might not have any really weird gifts (yet), our shop does have some unique gifts for readers, writers, and poets.
NOTE: We don’t get anything for featuring these gifts. Zero, nilch, nada. We do it because it amuses us and we like to give our readers a good laugh—or, a great gift idea.

It’s Zombies, Wizards, and Vampires—Oh My!
This hilarious design shows how zombies, wizards, and vampires have taken over virtually every form of popular media in the past few years. From wizards and vampires in best selling fiction (Twilight, anyone?) to zombies taking over classic literature, barely a day passes by where you don’t hear about some story involving one or more of these fantastical creatures.
But whether you love them or hate them, this t-shirt design is the perfect way for you to poke lighthearted fun at a culture currently obsessed with the magical and the undead.
As we mentioned in our post last week, you can get 10% off our shirts until the end of December by using the coupon code 10OFFTSHIRTS at checkout. You can get this t-shirt here.

Like many of our fellow readers, we were heartbroken to hear about Trixie Koontz’s death in 2007. That’s why—since we hadn’t heard about Christmas Is Good!: Trixie Treats & Holiday Wisdom (written by Trixie Koontz and edited by Dean Koontz)—until recently, we were surprised to see a book bearing her adorable face at our local bookstore.
While Christmas Is Good! was published two years before her untimely death, Trixie’s good nature lives on in its pages. What makes the book even more wonderful is that all of the proceeds go to Canine Companions for Independence (CCI)—a charitable organization that provides service dogs for people with disabilities—and where Trixie herself was adopted from after she retired from being a service dog at the age of three.
After everything that the world has heard about Trixie, Christmas Is Good! seems to be the perfect testament to Trixie’s life. (We are going to take this opportunity to say we love the fact that Koontz has, and still does, make Trixie such a part of his writing.)
A small excerpt from Koontz’s website reads “[Trixie] taught Dean to trust his instincts, persuaded him to cut down to a fifty-hour work week, and, perhaps most importantly, renewed in him a sense of wonder that will remain with him for the rest of his life.” Christmas Is Good! absolutely captures the sense of wonder of a world seen through Trixie’s eyes. As Trixie says in the book: “[s]ometimes people seems forget wonder of Christmas. Dog like me could help people see wonder again.” Read the full story
